Not voles.
Not naked mole-rats
MUSKRATS!
Northy challenged me to find letters and make a word with them. Across from the hotel where Crypticon is happening is the Minnesota Wildlife Refuge, with walking trail that feeds into a larger trail system, and a visitor’s center where they happened to be having an event for kids and families. So I looked around the visitor’s center before taking my walk. One thing they had was this thing made to look like a muskrat lodge, with a family inside.
Today I realized I’d better get back to the alphabet photography, and took stock of what letters I had already. I found I was able to make the word “Vole” — but why? OK, I got the letter ‘M’ off a sticker advertising Monster energy drinks (one of the freebies in our Crypticon VIP goodie bags) and made “Mole” instead. Then I got ambitious and added R and T to the A I already had. Now I have “mole-rat” as in “naked mole-rat” But again, why?? It’s so random. Then I remembered the muskrats , but lacked the time or will to find all those other letters. I did run back over to the center this morning just to get pictures of the little family. I got other pictures on my walk yesterday. But that can wait until later. The iPod battery is low and I want to post this and not have to scramble to satisfy my get pushed challenge this evening when we check into the hotel in Iowa on our way back to Kansas. Now, to enjoy the last day of Crypticon!
PS the very faint ‘L’ is the light from the hallway showing under and at the side of the door to our still-darkened hotel room. It was actually oriented the other way so I had to flip it to make an ‘L’.
The background that surrounds the black collage is one of the huge hangings they had in the Wildlife center. It’s composed of small bird pictures to make up the larger landscape image of sky, grass, and walking trail.
@northy@30pics4jackiesdiamond Thanks! Crypticon is the horror movie convention we come up to Minnesota for every year. Dan is a huge movie fan and especially horror movies. So it’s really fun to see him in his element with others who know and love the genre.
@northy@30pics4jackiesdiamond@randystreat@grammyn@farmreporter Your comments are much appreciated. You know what I just realized? What an idiot I was! Instead of using my letters to spell “VOLE,” which was totally random and made no sense, I could have spelled “LOVE” and been done with it. Ha ha ha
An excellent collage of your letters!
