Books

My get pushed challenge from Annie @blueace was “Nostalgia.” It fit perfectly with my week, but I didn’t get many photos taken until Saturday (4/27) evening. The Saturday before that, which was Holy Saturday, my mother passed away. She was 96 and has lived a good, full life. I will, of course, still miss her. This Friday and Saturday, in addition to the visitation/vigil service on Fri eve and funeral mass on Saturday morning, my siblings and I moved her belongings out of her room up in Sloan House at Meadowlark. The few pieces of furniture we put in my garage for the time being, until my siblings can transport to their homes (and we figure out who has room for the TV stand my dad made, so skilfully. There’s no way we’re giving it up, but...) Boxes of books and scrapbooks and photo albums came in the house to my back bedroom. This box was full of books we all remember growing up with. We have yet to decide who gets which.
Oh, Mary. I am so very sorry. There is no way anyone can ever be prepared for that no matter how much you are expecting it. Having lost both of my parents recently I know the struggle of your loss as well as what to do with all of the treasured belongings. You have made good use of these Books for this photo.

So very hard to sort through these types of things. One sometimes wants to keep them for the memories but doesn't really want the objects themselves and then feels guilty and sad...
