Tigerface by mcsiegle

Tigerface

My dear old friend, Tigerface. I tried macro shots of him for the macro-personal challenge. But he really looks cuter if you're not focused in close. You can see from this shot how very worn he is -- pretty much all over. For as long as I can remember he's been lacking his tail, and yet I know he must have been new when I first got him. He's been through a lot. So, forget about macro. But I will tag the shot for the get pushed challenge given me by Ashley @shesnapped It was the same one I gave to her: a picture the 10 year old you would have taken.

One time when I was a kid I carried him up into the attic space off our bedroom and laid down on an old mattress, crying because I thought my dad was angry with me. I had been up in the cherry tree in the back yard. Not up high, but the branch I was on broke and I took a tumble the very short distance into the sandbox below. My dad was there and swore when he saw that. I thought he was mad because I had broken the branch. As I was lying there in the attic crying, my Mom came in and told me he wasn't mad at me. He swore because he was afraid I was hurt. For quite a long time after that, Tigerface was missing and I couldn't find him anywhere. At some point I went into the attic and found him there on the mattress, where he'd been since I took him with me that day of the broken branch. You can't imagine the relief of knowing he wasn't gone forever.

Just yesterday I carried him outside to try to get a macro shot using the natural light. I laid him on a cloth put over a short table on the patio. As I found out, the macro shots were rubbish. A bit later I suddenly thought of him and panicked thinking I'd left him outside. Rain was a possibility for later that afternoon. I ran outside, and there was the cloth, which I had forgotten to bring in, but no Tigerface. I had the irrational fear that a squirrel or other animal might have clawed at him and/or dragged him off somewhere. But the more sensible side of me went back inside and located him fairly quickly on the dining room table under a couple sections of the newspaper.
@shesnapped Tigerface -- one of my best friends.

Aww such sweet stories with Tigerface. He's been there for you and you're still having eventful adventures with him. Haha. Great shot of him and hope you both continue to stay together, no more scares ;)

We are paired for the get pushed challenge this week, Mary. So sorry for not issuing your challenge earlier - but I have been really busy this past weekend.
I notice that you take a lot of your shots with your iPhone 6. So, your challenge is to try burst mode to get an action shot. It looks like a super feature on your phone.
I did find three tutorials for you - and one of them is how to get rid of all the extra shots that will gobble up valuable memory.
Not sure if you have ever used this feature - but it looks like you can get some superb results with it so I am sure you can get a shot that would be a winner with this challenge!
Let me know if you would rather do a challenge with your Coolpix.

@farmreporter Wendy. Thanks. I’ve used it a few times / not necessarily for “action” shots. I’ll be glad to try more. I’be been really busy too getting ready to leave town for a week. I promise I’ll have a challenge for you before the evening ends. Mutual apologies for lateness.

That is a precious thing. Great you have a photo of it now. I like that you made it look like the paper photos you may have had when you were ten.

Hi Mary,
I see that we have been paired for the Get Pushed this coming week. I have had a brief look through some of your photos and it seems you don't do much landscape photography so how about that for your challenge this week but with a twist? The twist is that it should be shot from a window of your house. Looking forward to whatever the challenge is that you set me!
