Play

I told the dinosaurs I was hoping to post one more photo for my get pushed challenge, given to me by Jackie. She gave me the theme of “Play”

Of course, they all had different ideas. AND they all wanted photo shoots for their ideas. In the end I settled for cramming all the ideas and lots of the dinosaurs (and Neanderthals) into one photo. Not a lot of photographic excellence here. But I’d rather have happy dinosaurs than a prize-winning shot. (Who am I trying to kid? What are my chances of producing a prize-winning photograph?)

Anyway, here you see the Allosaurus playing the keyboard. I couldn’t identify exactly what he was playing. It sounded familiar...possibly a mashup of several different tunes. The “Radio Hymnal” was the right thickness to raise him to keyboard level — it has nothing to do with his (fairly limited) repertoire.

The Triceratops Twin brother thought it was stupid to take the time to learn to play an instrument (all that practice!) when you can just press “PLAY” on the phone and have music on demand.

The Stegosaurus, Dimetrodon, the two Neanderthal Men, and Neanderthal Woman decided to do a play reading. They were inspired by the online play reading group Frank’s been participating in. I’ve joined him a few times and the dinos and Neanderthals saw how much fun we had doing that. I pulled out an old volume of Hamlet for the photo. Neanderthal Woman saw the Queen’s lines were all marked, and I told her I did that when I was a kid. I had found the book and asked my mom if I could have it. She said she didn’t think I’d be able to read it. I told her yes I could “It’s got a queen in it!”

Lady Neanderthal joined the Triceratops Twin sister who was playing with dino dolls. It looks like Lady N chose the little Stegosaurus dolly out of the bunch.

The Plesiosaurus wasn’t interested in dolls, but he did want to play. I don’t know if anyone ever joined him in the “Go Swim” card game, but they all agreed with him that “Go Swim” was far superior to “Go Fish” (shudder!)

So here we have a number of interpretations of the word “Play.” Thanks, dinosaurs! Much appreciated!
Haha! Great story shot! They are great players!

So many perfect interpretations of the word play. Each one perfect by itself which, when combined with the others, covers a whole series of interpretations.
