Fryums by mcsiegle

Fryums

I bought these a while back in an Indian grocery in Topeka. I’ve experimentally fried a few (deep fat fry in oil to get them to puff up — there’s a learning curve) But I also just thought they looked interesting and I could use them in a photograph, which I haven’t done until now. The Make 30 prompt for the day is Pattern.
Love the colours and patterns.

I can’t believe how colorful they are! Are these before or after frying? They make a fabulous photo for the pattern prompt

Great subjects for your challenge. These were not at all what I thought they were. Are they bready? pasta-y? rice cracker-y? I thought they were candy covered pretzels.

@wakelys @grammyn @randystreat @30pics4jackiesdiamond Thanks. These are in their un-fried state. As they deep fat fry, they puff up. Think “Cheetos." They didn’t puff very evenly, but then I had no experience with them. Maybe with practice I’d get better at it. I found them sort of tasteless. I may experiment with giving them some flavor after taking them out of the oil (like with popcorn.) The colors look some brighter than in reality. I don’t think I upped the saturation, but I did darken the shadows in the background and that makes the colors really stand out.
