Pine Cones by mcsiegle

Pine Cones

The get pushed challenge given to me by Liz Hammond @lizhammond was to shoot "a picture that uses the golden spiral or golden ratio in it's composition." I used the pine cones because they have that natural spiral and then tried to get the little dark knobbly thing on the bowl in the background roughly in a "rule of thirds" placement. Maybe a stretch.
@lizhammond another try

@francoise Yeah, I said "maybe a stretch" but really it's definitely a stretch. I didn't show the whole of either of the pine cones, which would at least have that natural spiral on the bottom, and I didn't really construct a spiral of them. I think, like you, I just liked the up close look at the cones, and designed the shot to get that dark spot roughly in a location that conformed to rule of thirds -- just to justify my posting it. :-)
