You may well ask what on earth this is, truth is It's a major fail.
It's the end effect of the tutorial I was following but I thought it would also transform my own image somehow, which is now nowhere to be seen. I guess it maybe would work but I need to figure out what other magic buttons need pressing.
I'm now back from the hotel just off the M1, hopefully I can get out and about with the camera tomorrow
Interesting result ;-)

An interesting image. No idea how you did this but I like the effect :)

@deeganp Thank you! This was the tutorial, it made me chuckle because she forgets what she's doing quite a few times but get there in the end :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v9s2AM0H__4

I love the chaos of lines and tones, I wonder what the original pic was ??

Oh I tried this - result not what I expected at all! Think it must depend on your base image. You've done more than me, I have nothing at all for today:)

@hermann Thanks Sally, It was daffodils!! Nowhere to be seen now, the swirls needed some kind of layer mode but I've yet to figure all that out

nice effect anyway

@fbailey Haha, neither was this! I must try get out of the thinking I need to post everyday, I just worry I'll never catch up if I do! Hopefully if the warm weather ever comes it will also bring some inspiration:)

Well, I know it's not what you expected, but it looks pretty interesting to me. I think the coloring is probably what throws it off. I used to seeing this effect more brightly colored. But still- because it's different, it makes you look!

very cool

What on earth is this? Well you did invite me to ask.
April 16th, 2018
Well, whatever it is, it is cool looking and I like the abstract look of it.

Excellent viewed on black! I like the sense of swirling movement! :-)

Looks good for a fail.

It's still a great effect.

I quite like the muted tones here, but do think this sort of twirl effect looks better with a brighter starting image. But when I do it they never bear any resemblance to the original

Great abstract.

It's a good effect with the two reverse swirls - and the lighting on each colour. It's a nice abstract with that feeling of depth. I had a look at the link ( she was funny the way she lost track ...) - is GIMP a specific program or an app of some sort? It does look interesting.. :)

Lovely swirls and tones.

Interesting result for a fail :-)

Not a good tutorial when she forgets what she is doing. I have trouble following along when they remember all the steps. I really think this turned out quite well.

I think I would just go to ribbet and use one of the swirl techniques there. I watched the utube video on this and had to laugh.

But it’s a rather attractive ‘major fail’!
