The Crypt by megpicatilly

The Crypt

This is a life size statue of a man contemplating the water held in his cupped hands by the British sculpture Antony Gormley. It is called Sound I I and made of lead from a plaster cast of his own body. Winchester Cathedral's crypt floods during rainy months but today it was dry which meant tours could take place.
Beautiful photograph. I like the colours, the higher perspective and the shadows. Lovely!

Beautiful shot. I love Antony Gormley's work. He has even travelled to Australia too and his sculptures are at Lake Ballard in WA.

As soon as I saw this image (it was the other day but I had to go out and haven't had chance to get back to the site) I thought, I know this image. It took me a moment but I finally got it. A youtube photographer I follow photographed Winchester Cathedral as part of a 15 minute challenge he does from time to time. Anyway, I have the link if you'd like to see it :) Really liking your capture of this same image. He cuts a lonely figure down there. And I would love to visit the place :)

@paul10 I found this incredibly difficult to photograph. Spent a long time using different settings and went back several times with different thoughts on how to capture it properly. This was taken on my phone and haven't yet had time to look at the 'proper' ones I took. There was something incredibly peaceful about this place and found it hard to leave. Unbelievably, I had it to myself! Would like to have the link when you get a moment. Thank you for the fav
