Our Floral Emblem_DSC1715

Today was a lovely day for a 10km charity walk through Kalamunda (Walk The Wall). The walk is organised by my sister in law's church, on behalf of the International China Concern. It is a global fundraiser aimed at providing care and services for abandoned children in China.
A lot of the walk winds through bushland where there was once an old railway line. The bush was full of wildflowers and I was pleased to find some kangaroo paws in bloom.
The Mangles Kangaroo Paw (Anigozanthos manglesii) is the floral emblem of Western Australia.
Awesome picture.

Lovely photo - great DOF. I moved from Perth to Armidale (NSW) - so have gone from hot summers and mild winters to mild summers and freezing winters. I do miss the wildflowers - and Kings Park.

@imaginings Thanks, we are having a fabulous wildflower season. My vague recollection of Armidale was that it was so lush and green.

@merrelyn It has been very brown with years of drought. The last few months have been the first rains in a long time - and it is just starting to go green again.
