I made a quick trip back to City Park, this afternoon, in the hope of catching more birds in the flame trees. They tend to keep to the centre of the trees, where they are obscured by branches and shadows. I watched and waited beneath the trees in the hope that one would oblige and move out from the shadows.
Thankfully this one did.
We are taking the caravan down to Albany for a few days and braving the cold, in the hope of seeing some whales as they make their way north. I will be somewhat absent while we are away.
Let me be the first to comment and FAV. This, we call a "Money Shot"!
Color, focus, composition: all perfect. What kind of bird is it? Certainly not something we see in the northeast corner of the States.
@rob257 Thank you for your very kind words Rob. I get my honeyeaters mixed up, but I'm pretty sure that this one is a singing honeyeater. They're found in most areas of Australia, apart from Tasmania, the east coast and the far north.
Yes Merrelyn, it is a singing honeyeater! Hope you get to see the whales. We have 3 Southern Right whales here in our "nursery" now but I'm still trying to get that elusive good shot :)

Enjoy your trip to Albany! I hope you see some whales!
