My track record with phalaenopsis orchids is not good. This one attempted to flower a few months ago, but the buds all withered and dropped off. It must have had a new lease of life when I put it outside because it sprouted new buds and another flower stem.
I've been trying to get a decent shot of it but it's been too windy or the light has been wrong. Nothing I took during the day was worth posting, so I brought this inside to have a play.
I love the colour and it looks fabulous against black!
All of my orchids have died so I'm looking at getting another one, I think I will look for a purple one, I had white and a multi colour before!
Well, let me say that you saved yourself a good photo toy as well as a beautiful flower. I like how this capture shows the angle from the fully open to the yet-to-be-open in a lovely flow. The dramatic black background works well, too. Did you put it against a black background?
@merrelyn -- Ah, black art paper. Must get some. I looked up lime cubes and it's intriguing. Do you have the kind you put on your camera? And do you like it enough to recommend it?
@jyokota I’ve only had my cubes since Christmas, but really like them. They give off a huge amount of light at ten different intensities. They’re also waterproof. You can buy can buy camera mounts and diffuser kits for them but I haven’t (yet).
I'm waiting for my orchid to bloom
