Coonalpyn Silo Murals

We made a detour this morning to check out the Coonalpyn Silo murals. I'm so glad that we did. It was stunning.

World renowned artist Guido van Helten, completed the mural in March. It features five children from the local primary school.
Looks so great!!! Thanks for the sharing!!!

@judithdeacon if you are in the area, these are worth taking a side trip to see, Judith. They are beautiful. I believe that there are several other silo murals in Victoria, but I'm not sure where.

Fantastic artwork. Guido van Helton did a beautiful piece of street art in Newcastle for the Hit the Bricks festival. It was brilliant and it remained there for a while but a few months ago the owner of the wall painted over it. Such a shame.

Superb. Guido van Helton also paid Stanthorpe a visit to create a stunning portrait of a gracious old gentleman who is held in very high regard by the community. :)

I'm so envious of you Merrelyn - you beat me to them!! For your info and Judith @judithdeacon , Guido painted the first silo in Brim last year and it has taken off as an amazing art form on these disused silos. There is now a "Silo Trail" in the Mallee district of north/west Victoria - this includes Brim, Patchewallick, Lascelles, Roseberry, Sheep Hills and Rapunyip. The town names alone are amazing! I was to go to Brim last year, but sadly it didn't happen - however I'm definitely going soon to do the trail :) fav captures.

@gilbertwood Thanks Denise, these certainly look worth taking a detour for, such a brilliant and unusual idea and it looks as if we could easily detour through these places en route from Echuca to Warnambool!

@judithdeacon A "little" off the track from Echuca to Warrnambool - but definitely worth it. And wow! Echuca was my home town and now I'm in Warrnambool - we definitely will have to meet up :)

@777margo Thanks Margo, apparently the organising group invested $85,000 in the creation of the mural. I don't know how much of that went to the artist.
