Man At Work

A gardener's work is never done!
I absolutely love the processing on this Mike. Great job and a wonderful choice of image to use the processing on. I must work out how to do this.

@obmcreations Thanks for the comment and Fav!

Here is the process used -
1) Took a couple shots of him working just to get some nice camera settings with the histogram in the middle of the spectrum. I always shoot manual since I like the control ;-)
2) Set the camera on high speed capture and bracket shoot three shots at -2, 0 and +2.
3) Load all three pics into Lightroom for library cataloging and initial minor adjustments.
4) Export all three to PhotomatixPro for creating an HDR - just to get a full dynamic range of colors and luminosity.
5) Took the combined HDR image into Photoshop and only added a dodge and burn layer since I wanted the folds on the shirt and some of the textures to "jump out" a bit.
6) Lastly, took the image into Perfect Photo Suite from OnOne Software and did the final adjustments for the vintage look and feel while keeping the HDR "feel" to the overall image.
7) When done, reviewed and did any final adjustments in Lightroom and exported as JPG for uploading to 365.

Now you know......

Thank you SO much for going through that explanation, Mike! You're so thoughtful to do so! I've come to realize I have a lot to learn about high speed as my photos are so dark... I also haven't bracketed that wide so will give it a try. I use Photomatix and PS, but never thought to also use Perfect Photo Suite that I only recently got. Your info is so helpful, if only to let me know I'm on the right track! (I love that you've captured people & animals...I'm finding that a bit tricky because of the movement... However, I'm (again!) inspired! Thanks!

@mikegifford Awesome description of your process. I only have PSE but I am sure I can work around something to produce a passable result if I tried. Just need the subject and time to give it a go. Thanks for being so considerate at sharing your "secrets", which I know you always have been. ;)

@obmcreations Thanks for the reply and glad you liked the write-up. I think this is the first time I tried this type of an edit on a "moving" subject.
