@kali66 Okay, sort of....The old saying of "Don't change anything you've not practiced" came into play. First of all, running two high-end camera rigs for an event that essentially happens over a short period of time is not for the weak minded and inexperienced. It was definitely a challenge. The D600 was set-up with a 400mm lens at full frame. The goal was to capture within a single frame 4 min per-and-post totality plus totality itself. The trick is to take the solar filter off and decrease the shutter speed (1/2000 down to 1/250 sec) and keep the time-lapse going. Well...I practiced taking pictures every 5 sec for 9 minutes (4 pre, 1 during totality since in Challis, ID I had 1min 10sec, 4 post). At the last minute I set the time-lapse to 4 sec to get more pictures and higher quality time-lapse. As it turned out the camera at 4 sec wouldn't let me easily and quickly change the shutter speed. At 5 sec I could spin the shutter dial and take it from 1/2000 to 1/500 and then to 1/250 after a single frame capture. Well....at 4sec it didn't let me, the camera was too busy processing captured frames and then capturing the next. It still looks pretty good but has a few dark frames. I'll edit and try to post a GIF here on 365. Stay tuned.
