Maybe How Long They Stay Depends on When They Arrive?
I know I've said it before, but I've seen more butterflies after Labor Day than I did before Labor Day. This Variegated Fritillary was happily sitting on the grass. Odd.
Read an article recently about thousands of monarchs that have delayed migration due to the warmer than average fall temps in northern US and Canada. May present a real problem since species numbers are already low.
