But the siren at the dam 300 yards down sure did. I was watching the top of their heads when along came this bird intent on harassing the egret - Brought him to life quickly with a loud chatter. Ten seconds later, the siren went off and out flew 4 more egrets that I had never spotted. All six took off up river.
@louannwarren It was louder than the one they usually use for the release of water down stream - I had noticed a big fountain of water spraying up maybe 20 feet in the air - don't know if it was something to do with that.
