June 25

This young dove spent most of yesterday in our backyard. He was young enough that he wasn't worried about my camera(or me). When the temperatures rose above 100 we got worried about him having any water since he didn't seemed inclined to fly more than a foot off the ground. So we filled this pottery dish with water and I had to practically teach him how to get in it. When he finally caught on, he had a great time and I got lots of shots!
Lovely light in this and the detail of the texture in his feathers is great.
Interesting story to the shot too. Did he fly off OK eventually?

@dulciknit I'm not sure - he was back this morning while I was watering, but don't see any sign of him at the moment. So maybe he's ok.

Wonderful light and detail in this shot. You were so kind to give him water and then lead him to it! He probably was just learning how to fly.
