That is a super specimen of a Pelican. He looks so regal and not at all in a hurry! Lovely water action, great light and outstanding focus Milanie. You always come up with the most interesting subjects and shots. :)

What a handsome fella!! The water looks rough but fun for bouncing around in!! They are some huge birds aren't they? Are they skittish or can you get pretty close? This looks pretty close, but then he is in the water! LOL Not like you could catch him before he could fly!! I think they know that!! FAV!
@cashew The pelicans that stay here briefly range from wary - to pay no attention! Sometimes they just swim a little farther out if they feel you're too close, while other times they'll hold their ground and pay no attention to you. I've never seen them fly away.
@pammerritt Yes, Pam, they are just here for a few months - then I assume they head farther north. In fact, I thought they were all gone the end of last month.
