The little goslings were playing in the pine grove where a rather large puddle had formed from the rain - those are pine needles sticking up. Try him on black if you can.
Oh, how sweet! Great timing and reflection. Make me think of Hans Anderson's ugly duckling - looks like he's gazing wistfully at his reflection. Neither goslings nor ducklings are at all ugly, of course.
