A Birth Announcement

He must have hatched out during the night - I checked just at dark and then again first thing this morning - and here he is! All fresh and pretty. Stayed hanging there for several hours - then went straight up and off into the blue sky.
What a beauty. I'd love to see this cropped in tighter too

@jgpittenger I thought about that (and actually did a tighter crop, but also wanted to show how far that chrysalis was buried in the middle of that lantana bush - amazing I even found it.)

YAY! So happy you had the host plant for this butterfly. I have hatched them before. It is so exciting to see the transformation. Nicely captured.
