When I went out today there were 3 young blue jays! Believe the one on the left was here yesterday, the one sleeping is the smallest, and there was a third who would get close enough to include - he was a little bigger - maybe ready to fly soon as he could hop on the bar a lot easier.
Wow such little cuties! Fantastic capture! Fav! I saw a lone bluejay the other day. I had found it in the front of the backyard gate. I thought it was injured and wasnt sure if it was old enough to be outside the nest. I picked it up in a box and then found out it was a fledging which is old enough to be out of the nest. He didn't look hurt, but I was afraid he wasn't as protected from the stray cats in the front so I decided to put him in the backyard bushes not too far from where I found him because I wanted the parents to be able to still find him, but in a place he wasn't as vulnerable. I looked around for the possibility of more, but I didn't see any. Im guessing maybe if there was more they either had been eaten or they flew off already. I saw him for about 3 more days sitting in the bushes and then he was gone. I wonder what happened to him. He seemed ready to fly so I hope he just flew off.
