Hard to Play Hide 'N Seek

With these bright colors, I don't know how he manages to hide himself so well in the tree. I could hear him but took forever to find him. The Baltimore Oriole is one of the prettiest birds that show up here in the spring.
They are just so beautiful fav

That bright orange is a knockout. You’re right, how does he disguise himself in the trees?
May 4th, 2020
Great capture. Yeah, that one doesn't look like he could hide very well with those bright colors.

That is one bright breast! And I'm curious like Elizabeth is!

Always a treat to see them. I usually only see them for a few days, not long after the hummingbirds arrive.

May 4th, 2020
@redy4et @jyokota They tend to get inside the leaves, closer to the trunk and use the leaves as cover.

Oh! This is a beautiful picture! Orioles are certainly stunning. I just filled a feeder today with nectar, grape jelly, and an orange half for the Orioles. We get them every year, and we are excited for their arrival.
May 5th, 2020
Oh WOW!!! Talk about bright, bold and beautiful!! I sometimes see one or two as they pass through the farmlands on their way to more bird-friendly locals.
May 5th, 2020
@milaniet -- the leaves must be gigantic or dense to cover that color! Wish I could see this bird . . .
May 5th, 2020
@jyokota Leaves are normal size but fairly full. My best bet is to watch for a sign of movement in a leaf then go hunting around there hopefully before he takes off.

@bjywamer Look for Baltimore Orioles high in leafy deciduous trees, but not in deep forests: they’re found in open woodland, forest edge, orchards, and stands of trees along rivers, in parks, and in backyards. Don't find them in my yard but about a few days every year. Love grape jelly and oranges along with the hummingbird nectar. Found this group by the water.
