Lady Liberty by mimiducky

Lady Liberty

It's Travel Tuesday, and yes, this statue is actually located in Europe - in the middle of a roundabout in Colmar, France, of all places! It was erected there because Colmar is the birthplace of Auguste Bartholdi, who designed the Statue of Liberty (the real one). The Colmar statue is of course much smaller and stands about 39 ft.
I love 'roundabout art' abroad! This, though, is pretty impressive and would be quite an eye turner if you weren't expecting it!

A surprising thing to find on your travels - Lucy and I discovered several versions of this statue in Paris when she lived there. I wonder wht the French should be so fond of it?
