Black Kettle

Back at university one of my topics in Humanities was still life art. Somehow I always thought it was just flowers in a vase or fruits in a bowl with some subdued lighting. The write-up & samples in Scrivna's article opened it up for me. Am still trying to figure it out & am not really sure about my black kettle but I like the black of it contrasted by the colourful screen beside it. As you can see from my previous photos I love a lot of colour, so this is quite subdued for me.

I've had a really good week with 365 with quite a few of my photos landing on the PP & the Evening Sunset was in the Top 20 for week 18. I am so thrilled & so I want to thank everyone who browsed, commented, favorited my photos. There's a lot of talent here in 365 & I just wish I had all the time in the world to look at each photo, savour & comment.
I love "old" things like this, nice shot and well done you for getting in the top 20!!!

This is a lovely still life. I think the colour is still there, especially with the great blue of the kettle. The textures of the benchtop, the picture frame and the bricks add extra appeal. And congratulations on the Top 20; wonderful achievement to cap off a great 365 week. Well done!

Very nice. I like this range of colors. Deep and rich versus vibrant. Congrats on your good week.

Oh! Nice! I love kettles like this... they're just so lovely.

On your question about Stevie... she's what is called a Sky Blue Budgie. Her breed was started in Belgium in around the mid to late 1800, then the English loved them and they were brought here to Australia in 1910. Stevie is 5 1/2 years old; and that's old for a little sweetheart like her. A budgie's life span is between 10 -15 years. They average domestically between 3 - 7; at times they do stay alive longer.
We had a budgie called Charlie who stayed alive for 19 years. He didn't have the best life, but then, he had the best sunset years a budgie could ask for... with us. :D

Very nice composition...and that's what will make or break us on this theme...I feel I am so rushed each day and can barely find time to snap a quick shot let alone set one up. I really like yours so keep doing what you are doing as it is working!
