The ride through the mountains of western Virginia is one of my favorite rides. I especially like the ride coming down out of the mountains into North Carolina. The view to the east is spectacular. It's a shame there is no where to stop on the way down that stretch to stop for a photo.
@pej I agree, Paul. It is really pretty in the mountains. We don't usually drive down so I don't have a special area of the trip. I did love the change in the terrain and also trees. As we got farther south, the leaves had color and were still on the trees.
I remember driving up through the heart of W. Va.'s mountains on a foggy morning once. Just before we reached the top of the mountain we broke through the fog and the sun was shining. It was magical! Nice capture.
