I've seen this bobcat many times before. She lives at a small man made lake on my way home from work. I often stop here to go for a run. I've visited this lake with my camera a couple of other times & she was no where to be found. I found her this day & was only able to get 1 shot(this one). I'm hoping to get a better one. I'll often see this bobcat stalking rabbits. Sometimes the Whitetail Kites will pester her. She is really a beautiful animal. When I'd find her while running, I'd stop & watch her for 20-30minutes.
Oh this is awesome! In looking through your work I recognize the flora and fauna of my area too. Are you a central California coaster too? I'm in Grover beach!
@pixelchix I'm about 1 1/2 hrs south of you in Goleta. This bobcat shot was taken at Lake Los Carneros http://www.syvjournal.com/archive/7/24/4596/. As far as the bobcat, I haven't seen it since I took this pic. I need to check in with a local photographer, who visits this park everyday, and make sure it's been seen recently. This small lake has an amazing winter bird population. The egret photo was taken at Devereux Slough http://www.calliebowdish.com/BirdsCOPR.htm
@molizard thanks so much for the info. so we're almost neighbors! ;-) i've seen bobcats very rarely out at oso flaco lakes in nipomo...also a great place for birding. have you been there? it's only about 20 minutes from where we live. I've never been to either of those places you gave links to, so our next run to Samy's Camera will have a dual purpose!
