Harsh reality by momamo

Harsh reality

I was sitting on a bench, resting between walks when this man appeared and went searching in the bins, he didn’t seem disturbed with my appearance and just went on with business. The harsh reality is that this is a regular scene in Atyrau ; I see it every day when I look out of my appartment ....people searching bins for what other people have discarded. The salary a chambermaid makes is around 200 € a month and my husband told me that the salary for an engineer at the local oilcompany is 250 €. I was relieved to hear that the local salary with the international companies is at least 4 x higher, but still..... That’s why a lot of grown up children stay with their parents.
A sad reality here too, probably all over the world.

US too. Dumpster diving is a given for many college students. Where I live in a smaller community, we leave objects out by the side of the road with a "free" note on them for others to take before garbage day.

Your image, makes me appreciate how lucky I am. I earn a good income for doing what I consider to be an easy job. A very thought provoking image Monique.
