2015-05-27 emerald lizard

The western green lizard (Lacerta bilineata). Individuals claiming territories and the males defend this vigorously. With chasing each other, territorial fights, bitings and display behavior. The scars on the head could indicate that this male has suffered an injury in such a struggle. The average life span of this species is about 15 years.
They a rev very fast but maybe stay briefly in one spot as here! Super catch! His eye does look a bit sad!

@maggiemae Thanks! I did not feel that he was sad or affected by the old injury. And I was very patient and have not moved for a long time (in an uncomfortable position notabene) to get this capture.
