Very, very small seeds of the Epilobium parviflorum (Kleinbluetiges Weidenroeschen). The plant is a much smaller relative to other willowherbs or the well known fireweed, great willow-herb, or rosebay willowherb (Chamerion angustifolium) from the Onagraceae family.
The seeds of most of this family members grow in a thin chamber, and once this chamber opens they are dispersed on the wind.
Interesting for me: The name Fireweed derives from the species' abundance as a coloniser on burnt sites after forest fires. Its tendency to quickly colonize open areas with little competition, makes it a clear example of a pioneer species. But also in the German language this plant got a special trivial name. Due to its rapid colonization of bomb craters, destroyed cities and waste places in world war ll, the former by the urban population unknown flower became known as bombweed (Truemmerblume).
