2015-10-26 turkish hazel

Talking of fruits and nuts yesterday, concerning the dandelion seeds, today something that is for all of us clearly a nut. A nut from a Turkish hazel (Corylus colurna) tree to be precise, surrounded by a thick, spiny, bristly and resinous involucre which encloses the nuts and comes in clusters of 3-8 together.
A most beautiful composition! Just right for an autumn shot! fav

What a wonderful macro shot Mona, your dof is perfect for this nutty shot. Hazel nuts are my 2nd favorite nut, the 1st are the nutty people I love. :)

You definitely must not live in a city!! You have the best rural pictures, wonderful animals and exotic fruits and nuts, and I love the way you photograph them! I do love hazelnuts, but I don't think I had ever seen them on a branch like this...great capture....FAV!
