Wonderful comp, your knife has the coolest patterns! In another image, someone commented that means it's a quality knife. Do you mind if I ask who made it?

@hvansteenburgh Hi Heather, I have no idea who made it. I got it from a quality household shop. It is a small but wonderful universal kitchen knife (not a Santoku) It is made of ice-cured, Japanese damask steel and has different layers of hard and flexible steel, which are folded in a complex process around a hard V-Gold-10 ("gold" meaning quality) steel core. Already in this size extremely expensive. I could never afford a real Santoku (what you probably mean) of this steel quality. (I would rather buy a new lens for this amount of money. ;-) http://365project.org/mona65/365/2016-10-19

@365projectorgsebgritt Of course you are absolutely right, this is an anytime of the year spice. I have always Vanilla on stock and homemade vanilla sugar is used often in my house. I'm very short of time at the moment, so I decided on dooing a little spice series, and called it Christmas spices, just for the season.
