2019-04-17 let's hope for a lot of cherries in summer
Our region is well known and quite famous for the high-stem cherry trees. And even more for the kirsch (clear distillated fruit brandy), which is obtained later from the cherries, and with which the famous Zuger Kirschcake (no cherries, kirsch only!) is enriched. For this reason today a real cliché image. Detail of a cherry tree in full bloom (yes we had snow last Sunday), growing on the cherry farm not 200 meters away from our house and their flower garden as bokeh in the background. (The picture is a bit to colourful for my taste, but who would complain about spring at it's best.)
Lovely stails in the blossoms. We have the ornamental cherry trees, all the thrill, none of the fruit. There is a large cherry farm about an hour away. It is great fun to go out there and pick some for your self.
I’m not complaining about spring, or about too much colour, as we are just barely beginning to come off several months of winter greys and browns. Bring on the colours!
