2020-01-18 helvetic classic, with canadian touch

Weekend treat. This is a Swiss Carrot cake, a classic. The original recipy is unlike carrot cakes I know from other places, without heavy icing on top. Just a hint of powdered sugar and some marzipane carrotes complet the cake. But in this one I twisted the recipe a bit and used Canadian maple syrup as replacement for the sugar in the cake. But not the good one I got for Christmas from Nova Scotia. This precious one is only for special days, or if I need a sip of Canadien sweetness to reduce the painful wanderlust or feeling nearer to my Canadien friends.
I'm not sure if hubby is happy, that I picked up the camara again, and that my stuff again is covering the dinner table I use sometimes as "studio". But I think as long as there is cake,... he doesn't mind to much. ;-)
Better on black, if you have the time.

A stunning image; beautiful with its magical light and delish-looking cake!
