I don't know, what this year has done to me? (Well I know, it's not that I haven't had my crazy moments before). I had a very elegant picture in my mind, when I started to photograph this lovely Italian hybrid cauliflower (Fioretto). Elegant, to do this delicious veggy justice. And suddenly (imagine Mr. Beans singing voice) this happens,... I better tidy up, and get this fioretto into a dish. And shush!, don't tell my hubby M. I used his +50 year old truck as fioretto hauling beast.
Love the setup and the reflections. I have never seen this veggie, but it looks like tender cauliflower which I use for everything from mashed and riced to a wonderful silky smooth base for soup.
@jgpittenger Oh, it was an easy vegetarian dish. Homemade Risotto with Parmigiano (actually the all basic recipe) and those Fioretto flowers all around the plate. I steamed them a bit, and then caramelized them with a little brown sugar in a pan. Salt pepper, and some crushed pine nuts on top, and thats it. The are tasting like really mild cauliflower and have a hint of hazelnuts. They are easy to cook as they are not so crumbly and look still nice on the plate with the green "stems". But we do not get them often.
@shutterbug49 You are so right, it's like a really tender and mild cauliflower/brokkoli mix. And having a bit of a hazelnut hint. I'm sure you would love them. I do.
Your's has an elegance about it that is missing in some of hers.
