Today I visited the Silk Museum. Valencia had a thriving silk industry from the 16th to the 19th century, and the museum is placed in the old guild house. After visiting the house and listening to the history of the place and of the guild, we got to see a live demonstration of how silk threads are taken from the cocoons and how the finished threads were woven to make the pieces fo fabric. This loom is over 200 years old and is still working - the museum worker demonstrated it to us. It's been a very interesting day!
