Coming back to my picture. people among themselves go and check the thickness of the ice. they go to where they think fishing might be a good, take an auger and drill a whole to see how thick the ice is there. if thick enough, they slide their fish hut on top of it, make the whole bigger so a few guys can fish. a fish hut usually has benches around the opening, a propane heater to keep warm or heat up food. we never had our own hut bc I wouldn't go into one, Hans went fishing with his buddy's. we loved and enjoyed snowmobiling. happy memories.
