I almost didn't do it... this picture was taken with the mobile and edited on the native camera edit functionality (gallery edit...). I added a flare filter and some minor edits. It does not amount to a lot, as far as photography is concerned. But bad as it might have been for probably most normal human beings, for me, 2020 has not been all THAT bad. But for the pandemic and the work from home situation, I was able to develop some personal areas, like painting and drawing, for which there was never enough time. I am ever grateful that i managed not to contract the virus, and neither have my close ones. We were lucky. I don't discard taking care and respecting the rules, but in the end luck is also a great part of this game life is playing on us.
All in all, those are my tube watercolors, a thing (actually several, as can be seen) i only dared dreaming about at the beginning of this journey.
And the decoration on that glass is also made by me, a couple of years ago, out of polymer clay, because i like whimsical houses. For me, go big or go home is not a choice. Home is the biggest i can get.
I do not understand why you seem to be apologizing for your images. I have yet to see a bad one, we all are who we are and do what we find is right for us. You obviously love what you are doing and it gives me much pleasure to see what motivates you.
@ludwigsdiana are you by any chance the alter ego of my best friend? I can hear her in your words and i am so grateful for both of you that you give me a jolt when i need one. You are a very sensitive and sympathetic (i think these are a bit synonyms) person. I guess, as you said, we all are who we are. And i guess we all have our skeletons in our closets.
But some of us are lucky enough to meet people like you and my best friend. So, thank you.
what was it you always tell me, my friend? "don't be so hard on yourself." well???? (wagging a finger at you! the good finger, not the bad one.😂) i was looking at that photo of diana last night and i thought it might be a good challenge down the road. i might have fav'd it. shall we make it our second painting challenge?
diana @ludwigsdiana has a bountiful of inspiring photos.
@summerfield yeees... i know. It takes once to know one! It is true, after all, that we see (like or hate) in others what we see in ourselves. I know my weakness. I am fighting it. But it's not easy. And every time i say it to someone else, i think i should take my own advice.
Fact: in German, the meaning of the name Monika is 'the one who gives advice, the advisor'
I'm good at it, I'm bad at applying it.
@stiggle you should give it a try, if you think you'd like it. It's not easy. Sometimes it is frustrating. But it is so worth it when you have the smallest success.
@shutterbug49 yes, something like that. It just caused me some pondering. And i like it when i have the opportunity to get a glimpse into who my new 365-er friends are. So i think it fair to give something back.
I love the decoration around the glass, I think you are very talented.
I have no idea why anyone ever apologises for their work on here, surely we are only here to post what pleases us. Of course it’s a really nice bonus if other people like our posts but I don’t believe that any post needs an apology
Yes, I totally agree, @kjarn . We should just enjoy what we are doing. But I think I can also understand the tendency (which is healthy to some extent only) to compare one's work with that of others. And here, there are a bunch of extremely talented people. And it is hard not to wish to be like them.
Fortunately enough, there are people like you and Diana and Vikki and some others, who care enough to get us back on the track, and remind us to simply enjoy what we're doing.
Thank you!
I agree totally. There are lots of fabulous photographers on here and I couldn’t count the number of times that I’ve wished I was as good as them however I will still not ever apologise for anything I post as it’s the best I can do and possibly means something special to me. I know I have learnt a lot on here and after ten years I find I am retaking some shots that I took years ago only they are much better now due to things I have learnt
@30pics4jackiesdiamond I'm trying to sort something out in watercolour from a couple of posts here on 365, that i am in love with:
https://365project.org/ludwigsdiana/365/2021-01-19
and https://365project.org/amyk/365/2021-01-18
And, oh boy! are they a challenge!
But some of us are lucky enough to meet people like you and my best friend. So, thank you.
