Livraria Lello, Porto

This bookstore is rumored to be the inspiration for Harry Potter’s library at Hogwarts. It was quite beautiful, but very touristy. I shot this photo high over my head to keep out the tourists
How amazing is this. fav.

All those little busts attached to the books on the upper shelves are pretty intriguing. I assume this is all ambient light.

aren't tourists annoying! This shows the space well though, and especially that spectacular ceiling.

@helenhall They say 5000 tourist per day go into this bookstore. They also charge you 5 euros to get in. they do take off the entrance fee if you buy a book.

Pity about all the tourists. I’d have loved to see the ground too

Great details - so crisp! It is beautiful - perhaps it would have been a tourist trap without the HP associations.
Are the litte heads meant to depict the authors, or are they a nod (sorry!) to the characters in the HP stories?
