Livraria Lello, Porto

This bookstore is rumored to be the inspiration for Harry Potter’s library at Hogwarts. It was quite beautiful, but very touristy. I shot this photo high over my head to keep out the tourists

All those little busts attached to the books on the upper shelves are pretty intriguing. I assume this is all ambient light.

@helenhall They say 5000 tourist per day go into this bookstore. They also charge you 5 euros to get in. they do take off the entrance fee if you buy a book.

Great details - so crisp! It is beautiful - perhaps it would have been a tourist trap without the HP associations.
Are the litte heads meant to depict the authors, or are they a nod (sorry!) to the characters in the HP stories?
