Writer, poet, artist and prolific reader.... that's me.
I'm a collector of books, vinyls, coin purses and strange handbags... that's me too.
Otherwise, I love...
Brad: No, it's not a budgie. This is a Rainbow Lorikeet. They are a wild parrot which are native to Australia. The birds mate for life; so when one of the pair are killed off or pass away the other rarely finds another mate again.
I had a time some years back when I attracted about 14 pairs of birds to my backyard and a cat attacked them all. One bird died thanks to that horrible cat; and it was a husband of a Rainbow Lorikeet. But all wasn't lost. The lead pair of the flock took her under their wing and made sure she was cared for (I called her the Widow and the lead pair Boss and His Missus - the latter names because they were really big birds!). I have seen them around lately and the Widow looks after the Boss and His Missus' young now. So, she's part of the family now.
Very colorful shot :)
