I love carving pumpkins - except for that smell that comes from them! But it's fun and lets me have a creative way with them. I did the one on the right last night; and the one on the left this morning... now they're read for their fun tonight with tea candles to be put inside them and visitors too.
Writer, poet, artist and prolific reader.... that's me.
I'm a collector of books, vinyls, coin purses and strange handbags... that's me too.
Otherwise, I love...
@Kate: actually no. These pumpkins are grown specifically for this time of the year. They have no flesh inside; just pulp and seed. Pretty smelly really... not to mention messy too! But fun to do.
Great job on the pumpkins! I didn't carve any this year...that's a first! But I have several fake ones that probably look better than my carved ones - so I used them this year. Love the eyebrows on the guy on the right...and his teeth...too cool! Isn't this stuff fun!
Thank you guys for your comments. I'm very new at carving pumpkins, but I guess it just takes practice and time. I actually draw with a soft pencil (dark lead) what I want to carve, then get a small knife and start on it after I've gotten all the gunk out of the centre. It's messy but fun work. With the guy's teeth, I just peeled the skin off showing the white fleshy bit underneath. The other one was a little harder to do as his teeth were lop-sided and I had to make sure I didn't cut them off by accident. But I found he looks a bit dopey really. :)
