These are called Witch's Balls. Mum bought them for me a few years ago while away on holidays and thought I'd like them for my tree. They're made of glass and you're supposed to put them on opposite sides of the tree from each other.
Most of my ornaments on my tree are made from glass; so when I decorate, I'm always careful not to break anything.

Actually, the history of them goes back a long way; as far back as the Salem Witch Trials; but I don't know what they're really for. For me, they are just lovely decorations and so I'll use them to combine Christmas with my Pagan Celebrations. :D
They are wonderful but I never heard anything about Witch Balls....anyway...Merry Christmas, Lynda, and can I wish you also Happy Pagan Celebration? :)
