On Tuesday, I received a 3kg bag of books from Tasmania. This bag has been around Australia in what is called in Bookcrossing terms a Book Baggie. It's where you put a collection of books into a 3kg bag, collect together a list of people who wish to take part in this book swap and sent it off across the country. All the books are registered to Bookcrossing.com - including a journal book; which stays with the bag throughout its journey around the country. Every few weeks, I receive an e-mail telling me where the baggie is where it's been posted by the people on the list.
Then, finally, it comes to the last person and they send it on home - a few months later - and this is the result. I often don't see the same books I have sent off - except the journal book. And it's a lot of fun to receive books I haven't read before or seen before.
And this is one reason why I'm on Bookcrossing.com
Writer, poet, artist and prolific reader.... that's me.
I'm a collector of books, vinyls, coin purses and strange handbags... that's me too.
Otherwise, I love...
@digitalrn I've been with Bookcrossing for 7 years in November. It's a lot of fun, I've made many friends overseas and in Australia and have read books I otherwise wouldn't have gotten into. :)
And I've also begun a book review blog to keep track of the books I read too; which is also a lot of fun. :D
Bookcrossing sounds so interesting. I re-read the unabridged Diary of Anne Frank recently and Murder in the Cathedral was the first play I really understood as a teenager. Enjoy reading!
@digitalrn@loey5150@cmt2812 thank you all for your lovely comments. I do love Bookcrossing; it's helped me work on my collection of books. When I first looked at the books I had years ago, I realised I wasn't reading what I wanted to read; and so I used Bookcrossing to change all of that and broaden my horizons in my reading. And I've never regretted it for moment. :D
Great, you are a bookcrosser, too! I joined 8 years ago and still love it. Nowadays we do only virtual Book Baggies or Book Boxes because the posting costs are so high. We only copy the first pages of the books and send them in a letter. And we send only the actual book after someone has chosen it. The Mystery Chest is coming to me next. It contains 20 detective novels. Happy Bookcrossing!
