This morning, I was having a bit of a sleep in when I heard a chicken outside! I raced outside to find a black chicken out there walking around looking for me... cheeky chookie! Well, she followed me back to the coup, but wouldn't go back in - and the others wanted out... so I found a leaf of a plant they all love and threw it into the coup, opened the gate and the all jumped on it (including the black one).
At around 7:30am, I went and fed the chickens and decided to have breakfast. It began to rain, so I thought to wait until it stopped to take more photos of the yard.
By the time it did, it was around 8:30am and I walked around with my camera and photographed some plants and thought to check on 'the girls'; as they were all in the run/coup. Well! I found these freshly laid eggs sitting there waiting for me. Yesterday, they didn't lay any... now there's three! How wonderful!
They've been laying around 2 -3 a day or so and been wonderful too. There has been a pecking order starting to show in the group, though... which is a worry as there's two who are bullying the other two new ones.
Writer, poet, artist and prolific reader.... that's me.
I'm a collector of books, vinyls, coin purses and strange handbags... that's me too.
Otherwise, I love...
