I pulled out my slow cooker yesterday, and made up a typical vegetarian chunky soup. There was everything you could possibly think of in it - from pumpkin, sweet potato and carrots to mushroom and potatoes and corn - all great stuff like ginger and garlic and paprika as well!
It as going well, making the house smell so delicious for 4 hours on high, while I watched the 1974 film of 'Young Frankenstein' with Frank Boyle and Gene Wilder (what a weird and funny film!).
I defrosted some Turkish bread and got ready to eat my soup at 6:30pm, only to find that none of it was cook! Oh... yuk! My slow cooker had been acting up all afternoon and I didn't know! So, I put it back on for another 3 hours and it was all cooked by 9pm. But when I touched the bowl, it was luke warm...hmmm, yeah, something's wrong with it.
I told Dad and he said for me let him look at it before I go out and buy another one; and that I will do. It worked all Winter last year. Such a pity it's stuffing up this year.
