Life is a journey, and some people take better passport photos than others.
My current passport expires soon, so I have received a notification from the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority to renew it. They recommend that I do it online, it's convenient that way. But what I hate about the process is having to submit a photograph. Of myself. Ack. I hate having my photo taken.
I do love travelling. I'm lucky to have travelled to some beautiful countries. I will always remember climbing the Great Wall of China, sailing down the Nile in Egypt, watching the sun rise as we set out in the land rover from the Khoka Moya Camp in the Manyeleti Game Reserve in South Africa. I enjoyed the Space Mountain ride in Disneyland in Anaheim, California. Taking the jetboat ride and doing white water rafting in Queenstown in New Zealand was great fun. I loved it when we came across beautiful lavender and sunflower fields in southern France. I didn't love it when I crashed—butt first—into a fence on the ski slope in Andorra. (But it must have been a hilarious sight for onlookers! 8D ) And every time I visited Japan, I made sure I had a day set aside for raiding the anime and manga stores in Ikebukuro in Tokyo.
This shot is of a key charm sitting on the open page of one of my old passports. It's the page with the entry visa stamp for Egypt, from way back in 1992.
That's a very thoughful photograph, Liv. Sometimes an inanimate object conveys an emotion stronger than a person's face.
Sounds like it's time for you to do a selfie. Now that you need one for a new passport. :-)
I really miss traveling. There's still a lot of places (like the few you mentioned above) that are on my Bucket List. Lack of funds and other responsibilities are keeping me from it. I'm pretty close to just chucking it all and become a world traveling hobo. Just me and my camera!
Wow you have been all over! Just went through the passport process myself. Never fun, especially because I have to very young girls that needed their passports as well!
Awesome photo,Livia...You have done a amazing amount of traveling!! Not to make light of your fear of a selfie, but I would almost pose nude ( not really!) to be able to travel as you do!! Good luck with the process!
Such a great picture! I love the sentiments behind it, too. Good luck with the photograph; I hate taking them too. It's even worse for me lately because they told me I can't smile!
Love your key and passport to the world! Beautiful pov. All of your photos have such perfection. I would love that trip to Africa . . the wildlife there would be the thrill of a lifetime for me. My passport expired some time ago. But, I'm not done traveling. Ever!! Speaking of photos . . have you ever noticed that when a man doesn't smile, he's handsome, thoughtful, intellectual, etc. But if a woman doesn't smile, she's a genuine "b!" Or crabby or mean or, etc. :)
Great shot but I notice a lot of countries don't stamp your passport anymore, they process you electronically. I remember my first couple of passports being filled with destinations and my current one is full of empty pages.
Fav! You are quite the world traveller! Your passport must be dear to your heart! I think this photo is... well.. perfection! Reminds me of a line from a James Taylor song... "The secret of life is enjoying the passage of time" I believe you may have found the secret!
oooh, you've been to some great places for sure; only place I can relate to is the Great wall of China (also visited Xi'an for the Terracotta warriors..surreal). Beautiful words, shot and B&W - it all works!! Fav
You are so lucky to have been able to travel to all those wonderful places. I've been all over the states, Mexico, Canida and some Islands and to Europe twice but not to any of the places you mention.
This is a gorgeous pic. Fav. And so many wonderful memories for you. I must admit that my passport is probably my most treasured possession.
Good luck with the online renewal and here's to many more miles!!
A FAV for me! A great shot, composition and very true words. I am with you on pictures of myself, but I have posted more pictures of myself on this Website than most of my life. I do not know why.
There is something fascinating about the papers we carried with us on such travels - I still hang on to some as well. This is a beautiful image - I love the key. It is wonderful to look at and a great symbol as well. Thanks for reminding me so nicely of my past travels - feels good :-).
A great, big, passport-stamped, travel bug-bitten, elated "THANK YOU!" to all!
Thank you for taking the time to stop by! I appreciate your kindness and I had great fun reading your comments and thoughts. I keep all my old passports because I love the visa and immigration stamps in them. They bring back great memories. I love everything about travelling. Eating different food, learning about a new culture, seeing new landscapes. I even enjoy the time I spend at airports! I hope everyone gets a chance to travel far and wide. The world is an amazing place.
