But only for a little while. Eventually, this little guy came closer and closer and closer, staring into the camera, and then he jumped on to my lens which was actually resting on the leaf which explains the oh-so-blurry foreground. 8D
The blurry background enhances the DOF actually. Good job and I just love his curious eyes! Only 5 more days....sure hope you return now and then. I would miss all the entertainment you provide;-)
These little spiders are either very curious or brave. You realise that they will wonder where you have gone when you don't visit them any more. Great close up. It's their eyes!
Sooo cute! I can't believe it your last jumping spider shot I thought "Now that's perfect" and yet somehow you have outdone yourself again LOL. This is just perfection!!
@jaum Sharing the spiders? How do you mean? I must be having a Bad Brain Day! 8D If you're in Singapore, I'd be happy to tell you exactly where I've shot the spiders. Mostly at Hort Park and in the mangrove forest at Pasir Ris Park. Even so, they're just out there, it's a matter of luck if one finds them or not. 8)
@girlie Thank you for the link, Robin! That was interesting to read! These jumping spiders are very curious, and can certainly recognize images in the mirror. I've seen a video on Youtube where one reacted to its own reflection in the mirror. It was really funny to observe its behaviour. Every chance I get, I like to just watch them. I think they have personalities. Some are really fearless, while some hide at every opportunity!
@kittikat I think he was probably checking out my shiny lens and camera. (Both my camera and lens are silver, not black.) If he saw his own reflection, I think, he might have put up a defensive posture (two front legs held up high). 8)
It's a fav - not only for the whole focus thing, but also because of the iridescent sheen of green on head and purple on leg. Just absolutely stunning and huggable (if a bit small for that...)
I love the dof and composition of this, and I agree with monika, these guys must see you coming now and word goes round the garden, here comes that Livia lady lets look our best :)
Perhaps he sensed the end of your project is near Livia, and was sending out a deparate cry, "Take me with you Livia, let me see your world!" Another knock out. shot.

@janturnbull Reflections in his eyes, I suppose. In extreme macro shots that I've seen, you can see the camera lens and lights reflected very clearly in the spider's eyes. Check out this local blogger's page of awesome macro shots: http://sgmacro.blogspot.sg/2012/03/marvelling-at-eyes-of-jumping-spider.html
@jennywren @meisen325 After reading your comments, I have a frantic desire to go visit them, right now, this minute, to tell them I still love them! XD
