It is getting to a point that wherever I go people and even birds turn their back as if to say "not another picture".
From this view I would think spring is actually here, until I go outside it is VERY cold and there is too much snow on the ground. Hopefully it melts before Easter when family comes over.
All year long we watch the bird activity that takes place in the two bird houses that hang in the tree in our front yard. We watch the battles of the sparrows over the house. We even watched the Robins protect the nest of the sparrows when the blackbirds or crows come to steal from the nest. I was also surprised to see the birds seem to be paired up with the same sparrow all year long - they come around even in the winter.
kinda like talk to the hand, huh? i kinda like the pov on this :) btw, still haven't heard back from netconnexion re CSC... i can keep going down the list... altho' i am starting to think it would be easier to just host myself and maybe recycle one of the challenges from back in 2011 or early 2012 given how many new folks there are around...
@northy I think the idea of repeating the same or even similar with a slight twist of an old challenge is fine. THere are a lot of people on here who don't know how to use the manual settings. Also, another idea is you area really great at those shots where you capture people moving in the photo. In the same shot you have people standing. Here is an example of what I'm talking about: http://365project.org/northy/365/2013-03-15http://365project.org/northy/365/2013-03-14
There may be other people willing to host but if you don't mind doing it that would be great.
@northy I looked closer at one of those and it was actually a merged photo which may be a bit complicated and more of a processing challenge. But I do think you are great at capturing moving people (or moving whatever) and you can share what type of settings are needed to do that. What ever you are comfortable and have time for.
tx Kathy... i was thinking about a motion blur challenge, but wondered if, because it was about shutterspeed, it would be too similar to what we just did? but yeah, i'd feel quite comfortable with doing that... the other thing that occurred to me was white balance... i believe Nod did that one back some months ago, but i was thinking of doing it along the lines of the challenge that Jeff did for bw... that is, ask folks to take a several shots of the same subject experimenting with white balance and put a collage together... happy to take your advice on which challenge would be most suitable :)
@northy I think either one of those would work. The last challenge was being able to adjust all 3 but no specific direction of what type of effect we had to achieve. The motion blur would be very specific which would be good for a beginner. It was a while ago we did the motion blur. The white balance as you described also sounds like a fantastic challenge as well. I'm sure there are lots of people that don't know anything about it. I recently had a get pushed challenge to use white balance in a creative way and discovered there is so much you can do with white balance. I really love both ideas and either would be a great idea. So it is really up to you!
I really like the unusual position of the bird! Anyone can shoot the front of one and the colors all go well together and it has a very painterly feel to it with the focus being in the back rather than the front of the shot! Even when you are bad (and this one is NOT) you are good! ;~}
There may be other people willing to host but if you don't mind doing it that would be great.
Thank you so much for all you do on this site!
ok - now trying to think of which one... i'll figure it out and set up the challenge tonight or tomorrow... tx for all your help!
