Milkweed is the only host plant for Monarch Butterflies. No milkweed= no Monarchs. Consider planting some in your garden. This fat caterpillar will turn into a beautiful Monarch Butterfly.
i have a 2 year old plant, no caterpillars last year so it has got quite big , there was a wasp nest nearby which could have had something to do with it.
@kali66 yes. Wasps are one of Their predators. Ants will also eat the eggs. I place Milkweed plants outside in pots. When I get eggs or caterpillars I bring the plants inside my porch to keep them safe.
spectacular detail here. You are the second person on my feed that posted monarch in the making today. The other one has several crysali (?) hanging in a nesting type contraption
