"No witchcraft, no enemy action had silenced the rebirth of new life in this stricken world. The people had done it themselves." ~Rachel Carson
Rachel Carson wrote "Silent Spring" documenting the impact of pesticides on ecology.Published in 1962,it is still relevant today.
My push partner Kali asked me to put my environmentalist cap on and do a conceptual piece highlighting a local environmental issue of concern. Pesticides and Herbicides are a huge issue. We have all witnessed the decline of the Monarch butterfly population this season. In large part do to Round Up resistant crops. As the crops are sprayed...everything in the surrounding areas die.Not to mention what the Round Up does to our food supply...So goes the Monarch so goes ourselves.
My daughter and I were interviewed this past for an article about declining Monarchs. It appeared in our local paper. Love the concept of this! Great processing!
you did it ! :) thankyou for taking up the challenge, and I couldn't agree more with the sentiment behind it. I tried to read Silent spring once, heavy going, hard to admit we have not learned anything as a society since then... Monsanto being very much in control of things
@kali66 thank you so much Kali!!! I placed the bottle in a window which I sprayed with water.Converted it to a hideous shade of sepia.Lowered the brightness and then finally used a photoshop elements preset called " plastic wrap" for the texture.I thought that was appropriate :)
what a difficult challenge. I think you met it since I looked at the photo a few times, magnified it and thought about the message you are trying to convey.
@flutterby22 lol.No kidding! But I appreciated it because my push partner really thought about me and my interests.I promised myself that unless some asks me to set something on fire or blow something up I will take on every challenge.
I wondered what you were going to tackle for this challenge issued you. This is a marvellous response. Direct and thoughtful, cleverly executed, whilst remaining simple enough to visually get a single point across really well. BRAVA! :-)
For you Kali :)
@kali66 Be kind..I am an infant at PS and conceptual work. :) Hope you like it!
