In Hiding by mzzhope

In Hiding

While photographing this deer,I was using this tree as a kind of a blind. Then I thought about Brendan's Storytelling through dof challenge. You can find the clear photograph of the deer in my other album. This photo is the story behind the photo.:)

Six word story : I only shoot with my camera.
I like the way this turned out. It's what I would see without my glasses!

It works so well, especially with the caption.

I wondered if the deer was real and if it was how confident you were to de-focus and blur into the background when most people would want it pin sharp and then just seen your other shot and it is real! This is just a fantastic twist, brave and it works well done. fav

I love this shot and the depth of field - beautiful.

One of the major things that is annoying the crap out of me, is that stick that is coming out of the tree and is above the deer. I would have remove that as it is big distracted from the image.
October 14th, 2014
@agima LOL I am never adverse to removing things that annoy me....but ...that is one of the things I LOVE. I love the shape and it gives character to the tree which I wanted to be the main subject in this one. :) Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
October 14th, 2014
@agima I don't want you to think I am not open to suggestions and critique about settings, lighting ,processing anything that I can improve on the make the quality of the image better,Brendan. You are farrrrrrrr ahead of me in technical knowledge.I am a neophyte. It is just that when it comes to composition ,I think that is an artistic choice. Its what feels good to my eye.I am sure it doesn't appeal to everyone's eye! I am sorry you want to break that stick off.LOL
October 14th, 2014
It about what the subject is and brining attention to that subject. That stick take away from the subject and in saying that it gives shape to the tree you are agreeing. The tree is not your subjet in this shot.
October 14th, 2014
@agima well then I failed with what I was trying to convey. Because It is the tree that I wanted to be the focus. The fact that I was hiding behind it to take the picture.
October 14th, 2014
@agima the title " in hiding" refers to me hiding behind the tree. Not the deer being hidden.
October 14th, 2014
A image has to stand alone and stand apart.

Let me put the question to u

What is it in that image that tells the viewer it's about a person
October 14th, 2014
@agima I guess the fact that the tree is clearly in focus and the deer is not. That's odd.I see a focused tree bark, right in my face so to speak. So I can't help but imagine a photographer.
October 14th, 2014
@agima I should have figured out a way to include my hand or the lense in the shot somehow.
October 14th, 2014
You have the vision from someone that is there. You know what it looked, smelt and felt like.

This can and does change the way you see a pic.

I try and avoid his withy commercial work by shooting and editing at least two weeks apart and then after the edits I wait a few more weeks and look at them again. I find that shots I loved I don't like as much and see things.

Bingo. Yes putting your hand on the tree would put a person into the story.
October 14th, 2014
@agima thanks Brendan!
